Dental Implants: A Viable Alternative to Dentures
Dental implants in Patna
If you have missing teeth, dental implants could be a viable solution. Dental implants are a good alternative to dentures in most cases as they look and function like natural teeth. When a tooth is lost, it not only changes the appearance of your mouth, it also causes you to eat and even speak differently.
Dental implants are made of titanium posts which are attached to the jawbone at the location of the missing tooth. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for the artificial teeth to attach.
To determine whether you are eligible for dental implants, we will take an X-ray of your teeth and surrounding structures to see how much workable bone you have to support the dental implant.
Procedure
Dental implants are surgically placed into the jawbone. The titanium posts act as anchors or roots and are screwed into the bone. Once the titanium posts are implanted into the jawbone, a tooth-like composite is placed on top of the post.
In most cases, the dental implant procedure is a two-visit process. First, implants are placed within your jawbone. For the first three to six months following surgery, the implants remain beneath the surface of the gums gradually bonding with the jawbone.
After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, our oral surgeon will uncover the implants and attach a small healing collar. An impression of your mouth is then taken. Your composite teeth are fabricated, and then attached to the implants. The whole procedure usually takes six to eight months. Most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life.
